What is the R.O.S.E Mentor Program?

Established in 1994 by CSUB’s Dr. Bobbie George, the R.O.S.E Mentor Program has supported 800+ young women in their junior and senior years of high school through mentoring, valuable seminars, college planning, skills development, and more.

Our R.O.S.E mentor volunteers are women in the community who meet with an assigned student on a monthly basis throughout the school year. Together, our mentors and students can attend our R.O.S.E events and the Bakersfield Women’s Business Conference. All R.O.S.E mentees receive a BWBC ticket at no cost.

“Young adults who have a mentor are 55% more likely to be enrolled in college than those who did not have a mentor.”

R.O.S.E aims to create a safe environment where our mentees feel welcome and supported. Through a 2-year long partnership, R.O.S.E mentors help students enhance their skills and plan for a future beyond high school. Some of the topics we cover at our events include:

COLLEGE PLANNING

MENTAL HEALTH

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

PERSONAL GROWTH

GOAL SETTING

SKILLS DEVELOPMENT
