Are you still debating on whether or not to attend or be involved with this year’s Bakersfield Women’s Business Conference? I can give you the most common reasons people choose to attend or be involved:

  1. It’s great for networking
  2. You’ll be inspired and motivated
  3. You’ll learn something

I like to call these reasons “fluff.” Don’t get me wrong, they are great reasons.  It’s all just “fluff” though if you don’t do anything with the new connections you make, the inspiration that you’re feeling, or the new information that you have learned.  The key objective of our event is to provide attendees with the resources and inspiration they need to take ACTION and get RESULTS!

Let’s take a look at Colleen Bauer; a perfect example of converting a one day experience into a lifetime of results. Colleen Bauer first attended the conference in 1990.  She enjoyed the event so much she made a decision to take ACTION and get involved with the board.  As a board member, Colleen colleenwas given many tasks, but her talent for event planning became obvious when she became Chair for the 2009 conference.  Colleen’s keen eye for detail and incredible diligence made her work standout.  Several of the vendors noticed Colleen’s talent and suggested that there may be a need in the community for an event planning business.  Colleen leveraged the connections she made, the information she learned, and the inspiration she gained from the conference to start her own business, Fairy Godmother A Wedding & Event Planning Company.  Fairy Godmother has become a huge success.  Colleen continues to serve as a board member and still benefits from the conference each year, which has further propelled her achievements.  Following her passion, she was inspired to start a non-profit, The Fairy Godmother Foundation. The Fairy Godmother Foundation provides a beautiful wedding for a deserving couple going through a life altering experience.  They are nominated by someone and selected through a competitive process.  In addition to doing large events, you can find Colleen and her “Fairies” downtown at their home, the 20th Street Cottage, hosting smaller events.  This woman is a mogul with more up her sleeve and it all started with just ONE day!  Colleen found her passion, branded her life, and got RESULTS!
